Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with an AA degree in Histology preferred.
• Histo Certificate (ASCP) preferred.
• Three years of histopathology laboratory experience under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Embed tissue in paraffin and cut tissue blocks to prepare glass slides.
• Operate and maintain tissue processors, embedding centers, microtomes, and cryostats.
• Attend to routine lab duties, prep reagents, stock supplies, and dispose hazardous materials.
• Perform subspecialty services such as renal, muscle, or liver biopsies.
• Verify quality control results and document preventive maintenance logs.
• Collaborate with pathologists to address sub-specialty service needs.
