Job summary

Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles seeks a Senior Histologist to perform routine and complex histology procedures under supervision of licensed pathologists. You will operate and maintain tissue processing equipment, prepare samples, and ensure quality control in daily workflows.

Work with pathologists on sub-specialty services, document non-conforming events, and support lab operations with accuracy and sensitivity to patient populations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; an AA in Histology or equivalent is preferred.
• ASCP Histology certification preferred.
• Minimum 3 years' histopathology laboratory experience under supervision of a licensed pathologist.

Responsibilities

• Embed tissue in paraffin and cut tissue blocks to produce glass slides.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as tissue processors and microtomes.
• Document quality control results and participate in preventive maintenance.
• Prepare solutions/reagents and maintain tissue blocks/slide records.
• Assist with sub-specialty services (renal, muscle, liver) as needed.
• Daily instrument/reagent/buffer function verification and documentation as per procedures.
• Identify specimens with two identifiers to ensure safety and quality.
• Document Non-Conforming Events and initiate corrective actions.
• Work with pathologists to address sub-specialty service needs.
