Job summary

Atoms seeks a Staff Systems Integration Engineer to build and own hardware‑in‑the‑loop benches validating our autonomy stack off‑vehicle. You will define the bench architecture, assemble hardware, write automation, and document processes for software and autonomy teams.

Based in San Francisco, you will work hands‑on with electrical, software, and vehicle integration, employing Python/C++, ROS, and automotive networks to ensure bench accuracy and repeatability.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering with hands-on hardware‑in‑the‑loop bench experience.
• Experience designing, building, and commissioning test benches from architecture to bring‑up.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle networks (CAN/CAN FD/ Automotive Ethernet) and restbus simulation.
• Proficiency in Python and a systems language (C/C++) with test automation and CI exposure.

Responsibilities

• Design and own hardware‑in‑the‑loop bench architecture and build.
• Simulate vehicle systems not physically present on the bench.
• Develop and replay sensor data for repeatable bench tests.
• Create automated test frameworks and integrate into CI pipelines.
• Perform fault injection, degraded‑mode validation, and failure analysis.
• Lead documentation and design reviews for bench topologies and procedures.
• Support cross‑functional teams and drive debugging across subsystems.
