Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Project Manager or higher to grow its Highways & Traffic Engineering team in New York. The role focuses on leading staff, managing workloads, and expanding municipal/state project opportunities across Central New York, with Syracuse preferred but Albany, Buffalo, and Rochester also considered.

The ideal candidate will hold a NYS PE license, have 8+ years of transportation PM experience, and be adept at managing budgets, schedules, and client

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required.
• 8+ years of related transportation engineering experience required.
• New York State PE license is required.
• Proven NYSDOT, LDSA, and municipal PM experience from PE to construction.
• Ability to manage projects through SEQRA and NEPA processes.
• Experience with budgets, scope, schedule, project delivery, and quality.
• Community Outreach Process experience.
• Knowledge of NYSDOT Highway Design Manual and agency roadway design standards.
• Experience with regulatory permitting processes for the region.
• Experience with proposals and budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Leadership & oversight of Highway and Traffic Engineering staff and project teams.
• Manage workload and backlog; oversee budgets and schedules.
• Recruitment and mentorship of staff with goal setting and reviews.
• Coordinate staff training and development; assist engineers in design decisions.
• Manage projects covering scope, schedule, technical design, and delivery.
• Ensure quality control and adherence to company procedures.
• Communicate with clients and provide excellent customer service.
• Pursue and capture project opportunities; prepare proposals with technical approach and pricing.
