Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) seeks a Maintenance Chief for the Lewistown Maintenance Division. This leadership role directs maintenance activities, long-term planning and program management to improve roads and safety across the area.

The position oversees 67.29 FTE with seasonal staff, coordinates emergency response and environmental programs, and reports to the Maintenance Division Administrator. Hybrid remote options may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible highway maintenance and construction experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive guidance and oversight of maintenance activities in the Area.
• Oversee long-range planning, program management and technology adoption.
• Manage 67.29 FTE in the Area and 130–150 personnel seasonally.
• Ensure safety of traveling public and compliance with regulations.
