Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is seeking a Maintenance Chief to lead the Lewistown Maintenance Division. The role involves executive guidance over maintenance activities, long-range planning, and program management across the Area, directing 67.29 FTE and 130–150 personnel seasonally to safeguard the traveling public.

Qualifications

• Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible highway maintenance/construction experience.
• Minimum 3 years of supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive guidance and oversight of maintenance activities in the Area.
• Oversee long-range planning, program management, and new tech/method implementations.
• Administer roadway improvement, repair, and maintenance, including regulatory/permitting and emergency response.
• Manage personnel and resources across the district to ensure public safety.
