Job summary

State of Nebraska seeks a Highway Maintenance Worker/Senior in Plainview to operate equipment, perform maintenance, and respond to emergencies. Must have a valid driver’s license, with CDL in Class A/B and tanker endorsements within set timelines. Strong preference for heavy equipment experience and related licenses.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.
• Senior role requires Class A or B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements within 60 days.
• Preferred: experience operating heavy highway maintenance equipment.
• Preferred: Class A CDL with tanker endorsement and pesticide applicator license.
• Other: CDL with O restriction and tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment such as loader, trucks, tractors, mowers, and hand tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance and assist with repairs on assigned equipment.
• Perform pothole patching, sign repair, snow fence erection, and roadway/bridge/culvert repairs.
• Load/unload materials and work long hours during emergencies.
• Respond to emergencies with short notice; work in extreme temperatures and high-speed traffic.
