Job summary

KS Engineers, P.C. is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer (PE) in Newark, NJ with 10+ years of highway experience. You will design and oversee highway projects, review roadway designs, and prepare comprehensive plans and calculations, including field investigations.

A NJ/NY PE license and familiarity with NJDOT/NYSDOT/NYCDOT standards are required. The position offers hybrid flexibility with occasional field visits and client meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey and/or New York is required.
• Candidates licensed in another state must be able to obtain reciprocity in NJ/NY within a reasonable timeframe.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive highway engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience with standards, specifications, and procedures of NJDOT, NYSDOT, and NYCDOT.

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee highway engineering projects from initial design through final design and construction support.
• Review highway and roadway engineering designs, including bridge and culvert projects.
• Address roadway geometry, horizontal and vertical alignments, super elevation, cross sections, profiles, traffic signing and pavement markings, and MPT.
• Develop a full set of highway plans including grading, drainage and stormwater management, utility coordination, soil erosion and sediment control.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, quantity estimates, and construction cost estimates.
• Prepare construction plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Conduct field investigations and site assessments.
