Job summary

LVI Associates in Knoxville seeks a Senior Highway Engineer to lead highway design and project delivery for state and local clients. You will act as a technical lead, coordinating across offices to ensure compliant, timely, and high-quality outcomes.

You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to pursuits and proposals, and help advance the transportation practice. The role offers a hybrid work schedule and exposure to high-visibility Southeast projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of highway or transportation engineering experience.
• PE license preferred.
• Experience delivering DOT/public-sector projects.
• Strong knowledge of roadway design principles and common software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of highway and roadway projects for state/local clients.
• Act as technical lead through planning, design, and delivery phases.
• Coordinate with cross-office, multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop and review roadway design plans, specs, and reports.
• Maintain relationships with transportation agencies and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and support technical development.
• Support pursuits, proposals, and growth initiatives.

The Senior Highway Engineer will be responsible for:

• Leading the design and delivery of highway and roadway projects for state and local transportation clients.
• Serving as a technical lead throughout project planning, design, and delivery phases.
• Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices to successfully execute projects.
• Developing and reviewing roadway design plans, specifications, engineering reports, and construction documents.
• Maintaining strong relationships with transportation agencies and project stakeholders.
• Mentoring junior engineers and supporting the technical development of team members.
• Assisting with project pursuits, proposals, and strategic growth initiatives within the transportation market.

The Senior Highway Engineer should have the following qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of highway, roadway, or transportation engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Experience delivering projects for DOT or public-sector transportation clients.
• Strong understanding of roadway design principles and industry-standard design software.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
