CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader to guide highway design projects across New England. This mid- to senior-level engineer role combines hands-on technical work with growing leadership responsibilities within a collaborative team.

Based in Boston, East Hartford, or Manchester, NH, with hybrid work flexibility, the position offers growth opportunities and exposure to major DOT projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 10 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical delivery of highway design tasks from concept through PS&E.
  • Develop and review roadway alignments, design criteria, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Provide day-to-day technical oversight to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Mentor and review work performed by junior engineers; provide technical guidance and support.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Technical Leaders on complex DOT projects.
  • Review designs for compliance with federal, state and local standards; sign and seal documents, as required.
  • Perform site reviews and field studies to support constructible, real‑world design solutions.
  • Support proposal and task order efforts, including scope development and technical review.
