Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader to guide and oversee highway design projects across New England. The role blends hands‑on technical work with growing leadership responsibilities, and offers hybrid work options in Boston, East Hartford, or Manchester.

You will mentor junior engineers, review designs, and collaborate closely with project teams to deliver quality, on‑time solutions for complex DOT programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• PE license and 10 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of highway design tasks from concept through PS&E.
• Develop and review roadway alignments, design criteria, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Provide day‑to‑day technical oversight to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
• Mentor and review work performed by junior engineers; provide technical guidance and support.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Technical Leaders on complex DOT projects.
• Review designs for compliance with federal, state, and local standards; sign and seal documents as required.
• Perform site reviews and field studies to support constructible design solutions.
• Support proposal and task order efforts, including scope development and technical review.
