Job summary

STV's Chicago Transportation Group is seeking a Senior Highway Design Task Lead in Chicago, IL. You will take ownership of major highway projects, guide engineers, and serve as a trusted technical expert to deliver safe, efficient transportation solutions.

You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, keep clients updated, and drive design excellence while staying abreast of evolving IDOT/Tollway standards. A PE license and 10+ years of experience are expected.

Qualifications

BS in Civil Engineering is required.
Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license required or eligible.
10+ years highway design experience with IDOT/Tollway familiarity.

Responsibilities

Lead delivery of complex highway and roadway design projects with technical excellence and schedule/budget adherence.
Act as a technical authority advising design teams on standards and best practices.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate roadway, structural, drainage and traffic components.
Oversee execution across multiple concurrent projects with accountability and quality control.
Support project managers with planning, budgeting, client communication, and strategy.
Mentor and develop junior engineers and CAD staff.
Manage tight deadlines while balancing priorities without compromising quality.
Stay current with IDOT/Tollway standards and industry advancements.
