Job summary

GM Defense is seeking a Technical Publications Specialist to develop and maintain service information and maintenance documentation for EV and high-voltage systems. You will work with engineers and SMEs to ensure accurate, compliant content using structured XML authoring tools.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, adherence to safety standards, and rigorous document control. Occasional travel may apply, with opportunities to influence publishing workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience developing or maintaining technical publications and service information.
• Knowledge of high-voltage and EV systems.
• Ability to interpret drawings, CAD data, wiring schematics, requirements and changes.
• Experience with structured authoring and XML/SGML environments.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute technical publication work packages.
• Analyze drawings, CAD data, and wiring schematics.
• Author, edit, and maintain operator, maintenance, and training content.
• Translate complex information into clear procedures.
• Apply safety, formatting, and Simplified Technical English standards.
• Validate content with engineers and SMEs.
• Manage revisions and document version control.
• Coordinate line art, exploded views, and graphics.
• Participate in hands-on validation with vehicles and technicians.
• Identify and resolve documentation issues; escalate when needed.
• Suggest process improvements for publishing and reuse.
• Communicate status and risks to team leads.
