Job summary

Albany Area Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and supportive Assistant Speech Coach to help students develop their public speaking, performance, and communication skills.

The Assistant Coach will work with the Head Coach to support the senior high speech program, planning and leading practices, preparing students for competitions, and providing individual coaching. Candidates should be available for practices, meets, and tournaments, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to encourage and support high school students with varying experience levels.
• Knowledge of speech activities or public speaking preferred.

• Provide individual and small-group coaching in delivery, interpretation, presentation, and confidence.
• Attend assigned practices, meets, and tournaments.
• Assist with student supervision, scheduling, and competition arrangements.
• Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive, inclusive environment.
• Follow district policies and applicable competition rules.
