Job summary

Rockford Area Schools is seeking applications for the position of Head Speech Coach. This role oversees the speech program for grades 7–12, reporting to the Activities Director for goals and direction, while ensuring the health, safety and welfare of every student on the team.

Rockford Area Schools is seeking applications for the position of Head Speech Coach. This position is responsible for the overall supervision of the Speech program, grades 7-12. All coaches at Rockford Area Schools are responsible for providing leadership, guidance and instruction to students within their program. The coach reports to, and works closely with, the Activities Director to determine goals and direction of the program. The coach is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of every student participating on their team.

The Head Speech Coach has the following responsibilities:

• Responsible for the direction, supervision and advising of our High School Speech Team.
• Previous experience coaching or judging competitive high school speech preferred.
• Speech competition experience helpful but not required.
• Provide students with an opportunity to develop self-discipline, character, responsibility, leadership, and integrity through promoting competitive participation, goal setting, teamwork, and sportsmanship in an atmosphere that encourages healthy life choices and respect.
• Must have good communication skills and the ability to work with students at all levels.
• Coordinate practices and Saturday competitions with students.

This position will start in January and run through April 2027.
