Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior RF Test Engineer to validate and test RF and power electronics for the SPARC project. The role covers board bring-up, high-voltage systems, and hardware/software integration to ensure net energy is achieved.

Candidates should have 7+ years of experience in high-power RF environments, strong skills in C++ and Python, and the ability to work in a high-noise, EMI/EMC setting. Travel and onsite work at our MA facilities are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience testing high-power RF systems, radar, accelerators, or power electronics.
• Experience with high-voltage components, energy storage (e.g., supercapacitors), and troubleshooting analog/digital circuits.
• Ability to read RF circuit designs and set up automated test environments in high-noise EMI/EMC settings.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python; able to read code and understand deployments before testing.

Responsibilities

• Execute board-level bring-up, debugging, and validation of PCBAs and embedded controllers, integrating into RF systems.
• Operate high-power RF transmitters and interfacing with high-voltage infrastructure.
• Bridge hardware and software to ensure sensors and timing systems connect to central data networks.
• Oversee FAT fixturing and testing to validate hardware meets performance and safety criteria.
• Develop clear, repeatable test procedures and hand off routine testing to technicians.
