Job summary

Norfolk Public Schools, Nebraska seeks a High Needs LIFE Paraprofessional with driving to support Special Education in a Senior High setting. This 9-month, 35-hour/week role involves assisting the teacher, preparing instructional materials, and supervising students on buses and at school.

Requirements include a high school diploma; a valid driver's license and good driving record; DOT physical; First aid/CPR certificate desired; and strong communication, organizational and classroom support

Qualifications

Must pass a DOT physical.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Skills in organization, leadership and human relations.

Responsibilities

Consistent and punctual on-site attendance at the worksite.
Types, draws, writes and duplicates instructional material; makes educational games and aids.
Listens to students read, and reads to students.
Helps students with make-up work.
Assists in individual or group activities, games, flash cards, computers, etc.
Assists teacher in checking progress of individualized study projects.
Supervises lunchroom, playground, halls, classrooms and other activities.
Keeps assigned bus clean and ensures safety checks; reports accidents.
Transports only authorized students and follows all traffic and safety regulations.
Performs other delegated non-instructional responsibilities assigned by teacher or administrator.
