Job summary

Helix Linear Technologies in Beachwood, OH is seeking a Quality CMM Programmer to architect measurement strategies on Hexagon CMMs using PC-DMIS. You will lead complex inspection projects and mentor junior technicians.

The role requires expert GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and working knowledge of CNC machining to anticipate dimensional risk before parts hit the table. You will collaborate with CNC, manufacturing engineering, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement and ensure first-pass success.

Qualifications

• 5+ years programming/operating Hexagon CMMs in production.
• Expert-level GD&T understanding per ASME Y14.5; able to teach.
• Working knowledge of CNC turning/milling and its impact on part geometry.
• Proven ability to build inspection programs from scratch with minimal oversight.
• Strong background in MSA, Gauge R&R, and SPC.
• Independent reader of complex drawings, models, and specs.
• Degree in Manufacturing/Metrology/Mechanical Eng; GD&T certification.
• Background in precision machining or aerospace-grade quality systems (ISO 9001 / AS9100D, PPAP).

Responsibilities

• Architect, program, and optimize complex CMM inspection routines on Hexagon CMM using PC-DMIS.
• Serve as the technical authority on GD&T interpretation per ASME Y14.5.
• Design efficient, repeatable measurement strategies for tight-tolerance components.
• Collaborate with CNC machinists and manufacturing engineering for alignment.
• Lead first article inspections (FAI), PPAP submissions, and Cp/Cpk studies.
• Diagnose and correct measurement discrepancies across part/program/fixturing.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective action for dimensional nonconformances.
• Own and improve the PC-DMIS program library; maintain revision control.
• Mentor and train quality technicians on CMM programming and GD&T.
• Evaluate new probing/fixturing/software to advance metrology capability.
• Represent quality/metrology in design reviews and audits.
