Job summary

Steel Warehouse in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a maintenance technician to support general maintenance and troubleshoot plant assets. The role involves performing building and equipment maintenance, repairing parts, and fabricating new machine components as needed.

You will work with maintenance staff to ensure tasks are completed safely and on time, while reviewing production downtime and proposing efficiency improvements. Prior experience in manufacturing is required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• 4+ years manufacturing experience with strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills.
• Proficient with hand and welding tools.
• Able to troubleshoot systems including PLCs, motor drives, cranes and hydraulic circuits.
• Able to use basic math and precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and maintain production and plant assets.
• Perform building and equipment maintenance, repair and improvements; fabricate new machine parts as needed.
• Review machine productivity, identify downtime causes and implement improvements.
• Develop new ways to improve functionality and efficiency.
• Recommend equipment purchases as necessary.
• Notify management of problems affecting production schedules.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
