Job summary

Southern Champion Tray LLC in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Class A Maintenance Technician on the 2nd shift (4 days, 10 hours) to provide skilled mechanical support across production lines, install, maintain and repair machinery, piping and electrical systems.

The role prioritizes minimizing downtime, safety, and adherence to 5S and food-safety standards; you will collaborate closely with Plant Supervisors and Operators and may supervise a crew as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3+ years of related manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment; proficient in maintaining utility systems (electrical, water, air, HVAC).
• Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated knowledge and experience troubleshooting mechanical issues.
• Must be able to read and work with mechanical blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
• Must be highly self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a strong "customer" focus.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair machinery and related systems to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with Plant Supervisors and Operators to address issues.
• Inspect equipment for wear and diagnose malfunctions.
• Schedule work to maximize task completion with minimal disruption.
• Dismantle and repair machines; install parts.
• Lubricate and clean shafts, bearings, gears.
• Set up and operate tools and machinery safely.
• Support preventative maintenance and record-keeping.
• Participate in continuous improvement and training.
