Job summary

Steel Warehouse in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a maintenance technician to support general maintenance and troubleshoot plant assets. The role involves performing building and equipment maintenance, repairing parts, and fabricating new machine components as needed.

You will work with maintenance staff to ensure tasks are completed safely and on time, while reviewing production downtime and proposing efficiency improvements. Prior experience in manufacturing is required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• 4+ years manufacturing experience with strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills.
• Proficient with hand and welding tools.
• Able to troubleshoot systems including PLCs, motor drives, cranes and hydraulic circuits.
• Able to use basic math and precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and maintain production and plant assets.

Position Summary:

Support the activities of general maintenance and participates in troubleshooting and maintaining production and plant assets. The maintenance technician would be required to physically perform all the job tasks required for all aspects of building and equipment, maintenance, repair or improvements. They would work with other maintenance staff to ensure that maintenance tasks are performed in a safe and timely manner.

Responsibilities/Duties

• 1. Troubleshoot and maintain production and plant assets.
• 2. Perform building and equipment maintenance, repair and improvements and fabricating new machine parts as needed.
• 3. Review machine productivity, determine causes for downtime and suggest improvements and corrections.
• 4. Develop new ways to improve functionality and efficiency.
• 5. Recommend equipment purchases as necessary.
• 6. Notifies management of any problems that might affect production schedules.
• 7. Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.

Specific Knowledge/Skills

• Requires a high school diploma/GED.
• Must have 4+ years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills.
• Knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and welding tools.
• Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot systems (including, but not limited to programmable logic controllers, solid state motor drives, overhead traveling cranes and hydraulic circuits)
• Knowledge of operations efficiency and division equipment, as well as the use of basic math skills and use of precision instruments is a must.
