The City of Charlotte is seeking a Street Maintenance Equipment Operator Senior CDL Pathway to operate heavy construction equipment and support street maintenance projects. This role includes a CDL A pathway during onboarding, with an 8-week offsite licensure course to obtain the CDL A license.

Selected applicants will start with a schedule of 7:30am–5:30pm during training, then move to a 7:00am–3:30pm shift once licensed, and will be integrated into a crew to perform full-time equipment

Qualifications

• At least two years’ experience operating complex construction equipment such as backhoes, track-hoes, front-end loaders, paving machines, excavators, and tandems.
• Candidates without a valid CDL A may apply and attend a paid CDL A program upon hire.
• Background checks and pre-employment medical and drug-screening are required.

Responsabilités

• Operates heavy equipment including backhoes, front-end loaders, graders, paving machines, and dump trucks.
• Hauls materials to and from job sites and assists with loading/unloading.
• Performs routine inspections and reports equipment issues.
• Leads crew in the absence of the crew chief and helps supervise crew on site.
• Assists with setting grades, boards, and concrete placement as needed.
• Coordinates machine actions with other tasks and signals from crew.
