Job summary

The State of Colorado's CDOT in Aurora seeks a Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to service a wide range of heavy trucks and construction equipment. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment, with a schedule that shifts through the year and a housing stipend included.

Responsibilities include diagnosing major system malfunctions, overhauls, and fabricating parts, while ensuring safety and efficiency across CDOT fleets. A CDL is required and state service benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in automotive and heavy equipment repair.
• Education in automotive or diesel equipment mechanics (transcripts may be requested).
• At least 1 year diagnosing and repairing heavy diesel equipment (e.g., snowplows, tractors, bulldozers, graders, paving machines, 15' mower tractors).

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs heavy truck and construction equipment malfunctions on major systems.
• Overhauls and rebuilds components and equipment.
• Uses test equipment to diagnose defects.
• Performs preventative maintenance and safety inspections.
• Designs and fabricates parts and tools.
• Orders and procures parts and maintains tools and workspace.
