Job summary

GPAC seeks a Heavy Civil Superintendent / Project Manager to lead major bridge, highway, and excavation projects in Northern Ontario. The role focuses on directing field operations, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery across multi-million-dollar programs.

The candidate will coordinate with engineering, estimating, and project controls, manage self-perform and subcontractor scopes, and mentor junior staff. A strong track record in heavy civil construction is essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, specifically bridges, highways, and excavation.
• Ability to manage self-perform and subcontract scopes on multi-million-dollar projects.
• Solid knowledge of provincial and federal construction regulations and specifications.
• Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with project management tools and scheduling software.
• Engineering or construction-related diploma/degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily site operations for civil infrastructure projects—with focus on bridges, roads, and deep excavation.
• Manage field crews, subcontractors, and suppliers while ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
• Oversee health & safety compliance, quality control, and production targets.
• Collaborate with engineering, estimating, and project controls teams from pre-construction to close-out.
• Maintain communication with clients, consultants, and stakeholders—issue progress updates, RFIs, change orders, and schedules.
• Provide strong on-site leadership and mentor junior staff and forepersons.
