Job summary

Primoris Heavy Civil in Baton Rouge seeks a Construction Cost Estimator to develop accurate, competitive estimates for DOTD and public works projects, including roads and bridges.

You will perform quantity takeoffs, analyze costs, and prepare bid packages. A 5–10+ year background in heavy civil estimating with DOTD familiarity is required, along with software proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and AGTEK.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil or DOT/public works.
• Strong knowledge of DOTD specifications and bidding processes.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs.
• Experience with bid packages, unit pricing, and cost analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for DOTD and public works projects (roads, drainage, utilities, bridges).
• Perform quantity takeoffs using plans, specifications, and bid documents.
• Analyze labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor costs; develop bid proposals.
• Coordinate bid schedules, deadlines, and submission requirements.
• Prepare estimate summaries and reports for leadership review.
• Identify risks, scope gaps, and constructability concerns.
