Ideal candidate has 10+ years of heavy civil estimating experience, excels at production-rate development, crew-based estimating, and bid strategy, and collaborates closely with operations and leadership to win work.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of heavy civil construction estimating experience.
• Experience estimating for a self-performing heavy civil contractor.
• Knowledge across utilities, earthwork, grading, asphalt, and concrete.
• Strong bid management and negotiation skills.
• Ability to read complex civil plans and contract documents.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of detailed estimates and competitive bids for heavy civil projects.
• Review plans, specs, geotechnical reports, contracts, addenda, and bid documents for complete scope.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for self-performed and subcontracted scopes.
• Develop labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and indirect costs.
• Build crew-based production estimates based on means and methods.
• Validate production rates, crew compositions, equipment needs, and unit costs.
• Lead self-performed work estimates including underground utilities, water/sewer, earthwork, asphalt, concrete, rail and public works.
• Solicit and negotiate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Identify scope gaps and ensure bid coverage.
• Develop bid strategy with operations and leadership.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits.
• Coordinate with PMs and Superintendents on approach and schedules.
• Develop preliminary schedules to support estimates.
• Participate in estimate reviews and final bid pricing.
• Prepare bid documents and support negotiations.
