Job summary

UCLA Health is seeking a Senior Safety Specialist for the UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Medical Center. You will ensure compliance across Respiratory Protection, IIPP, ergonomics, and other EHS programs, guiding leadership on regulatory needs and policy alignment.

You will develop and deliver training, support quality initiatives, and collaborate with staff to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Strong communication and hospital-operational knowledge required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Engineering, Public Health, or related field.
• Extensive experience in occupational safety and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs including injury prevention, IIPP, ergonomics, hazardous materials, fire safety, industrial hygiene.
• Knowledge of hospital operations and applicable federal/state laws, regulations, accreditation standards, safety codes, and Joint Commission standards.
• Ability to interpret and apply national/state safety laws, regulations, and standards.
• Advanced verbal, written, interpersonal, presentation, and training skills.
• Ability to develop and deliver training and establish effective working relationships with staff, managers, and regulatory agencies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, databases, email, internet-based systems, and Articulate Storyline 360.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Senior Safety Specialist for UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Medical Center.
• Ensure compliance of EHS programs including respiratory protection, IIPP, ergonomics, and hazard communication.
• Provide guidance to leadership on regulatory responsibilities and requirements.
• Support quality initiatives and performance improvement measures for a safe environment.
• Assist in maintaining current UCLA Health safety policies and procedures.
