Job summary

OCMI, Inc. (OCMI) in San Francisco, CA, seeks a Senior Cost Manager to lead cost management and estimating on complex healthcare projects. This onsite role requires local SF market presence and project site/co-location as needed.

You will oversee estimate development, cost planning, reconciliations, and cost‑control activities while mentoring staff and coordinating with clients and project teams to ensure successful delivery of large healthcare capital programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of construction experience in cost management, estimating, or preconstruction.
• HCAI healthcare estimating, cost management, or preconstruction experience required.
• Experience leading healthcare estimating assignments from planning through construction.
• Demonstrated experience developing detailed cost estimates and managing project‑level deliverables.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Proficient in OST or similar estimating software.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills.
• Experience mentoring junior staff and coordinating multiple project assignments.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimates, studies, analyses, and evaluations at all levels of project development.
• Provide conceptual estimates, detailed takeoffs, change order reviews, value engineering, and risk analyses.
• Develop and present cost estimates, cost models, and reconciliations communicating project goals.
• Review drawings, specs, and documents to understand scope, risks, and costs.
• Perform life-cycle cost analysis and risk assessment activities.
• Ensure QA/QC and consistency of cost deliverables.
• Mentor and train estimating and cost management staff.
• Serve as the technical cost management resource for project teams and clients.
• Represent OCMI as lead cost management resource for assigned projects.
