Job summary

Clearwater Paper Corporation in Augusta, GA seeks a Health and Safety Leader to drive the site EH&S strategy, ensure compliance with federal/state/local regulations, and foster a culture of safety.

You will lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and training, oversee audits, and partner with operations to implement corrective actions while managing workers' compensation and safety programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
• Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations
• Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements and industry standards
• Working knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, practices, and monitoring equipment
• Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, and implementing corrective actions

Responsibilities

• Lead site health and safety strategy across operations
• Drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance through leadership, influence, and accountability
• Provide advanced guidance on risk reduction, loss prevention, and injury prevention strategies
• Oversee complex risk assessments, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions
• Build employee ownership and engagement in health and safety programs
• Lead development and implementation of health and safety policies, procedures, and compliance programs
• Oversee audits, assessments, training, and corrective actions to maintain regulatory compliance
• Provide technical oversight of industrial hygiene, process safety, chemical management, and related programs
• Lead regulatory inspections and serve as the primary technical resource for OSHA and other regulatory agencies
• Interpret regulatory requirements and develop strategies to address compliance risks
• Oversee workers' compensation and return-to-work programs and recommend improvements to reduce costs and improve outcomes
• Lead site health and safety training strategy and program development
• Partner with operations and leadership to identify systemic risks and implement effective corrective actions
• Analyze health and safety performance, identify trends, and establish improvement priorities
• Develop organizational health and safety capability through coaching, technical guidance, and resource planning
