International Paper in Springfield, Oregon, is seeking an experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager to lead site HSE programs, drive safety excellence, and ensure regulatory compliance across operations.

This salaried, full-time role emphasizes incident prevention, environmental stewardship, and the development of future leaders through mentoring of engineers and safety staff. The position requires a bachelor’s degree and 8–12 years in manufacturing, with CSP/CIH preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or occupational health and safety or related degree.
• 8–12 years’ experience in a broad range of manufacturing environments; forest products industry preferred.
• Strong written & verbal communication, problem solving, negotiation, presentation, and training delivery skills.
• Ability to learn quickly, be action oriented, build effective teams and set priorities with HSE/business leads.

Responsibilities

• Leads site HSE programs including Safety Excellence and Safe Align implementation.
• Pursues an incident-free workplace and 100 percent regulatory compliance.
• Develops leaders by mentoring Environmental Engineers, Safety Manager, and Safety Engineer.
• Oversees air emissions, effluent discharge, and waste contracts; manages regulatory reporting.
• Implements environmental, health, safety, and sustainability metrics and audits.
• Leads internal/external communications and liaises with community and authorities.
