Qualifications

• Five years practical work experience in radiation detection, measurement, electronics, and regulatory directives.
• Written academic examinations plus site-specific and practical (demonstrative) examinations are required.

Responsibilities

• Transmit radiological work controls and policies; advise supervisor of progress.
• Provide radiological worker practical training.
• Generate review and sign Radiological Work Permits (RWPs).
• Assist Operations and Accelerator Area Managers in scheduling radiological work during PAMM/POMM days.
• Cover full range of radiation control jobs, including high-liability assignments.
• Evaluate RWPs and accumulate exposure data; document lessons learned.
• Review, evaluate and sign data from liquid scintillation and gamma-spectral analysis.
• Perform complex waste characterization using spectral analysis equipment.
• Use field and fixed radiation detection equipment and perform specialty measurements.
• Coordinate with emergency response personnel during radiological events.
• Ensure DOT regulations are followed for transport of radioactive materials.
• Perform decontamination of personnel and enforce safety stop-work when needed.
