Job summary

N3B Los Alamos seeks a Radiological Control Technician to provide essential radiological support within the Radiation Protection Division at Los Alamos. The role performs surveillance, monitoring, and surveys for contamination and external radiation, ensuring safety and compliance with established procedures.

The position requires ability to work independently on high-hazard tasks, coordinate with supervision, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• High-hazard radiological work experience.
• Knowledge of radiation protection principles and practices.
• Experience in radiation monitoring and exposure control.
• Familiarity with DOE/ NRC orders and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine radiation monitoring support for assigned locations.
• Supports radiological activities to ensure compliance with procedures including 10 CFR 835.
• Mentor junior technicians in radiological protection techniques.
• Prepare and maintain documentation and reports of monitoring and surveillance activities.
• Implement radiation protection procedures across a wide range of tasks.
• Implement radiation work permits for various tasks.
• Respond to radiological emergency situations.
• Must be able to drive and be insurable to operate government vehicles.
