Job summary

Florida Department of Health seeks a Regulatory Specialist III to perform complex regulatory activities related to multiple boards, with primary focus on Massage Therapy and Midwifery licensing. The role requires independent judgment, knowledge of statutes, and the ability to handle applications in LEIDS while coordinating with the Board chairs and committees.

The incumbent will evaluate qualifications, respond to public inquiries, and ensure licensure processes comply with statutory rules.

Qualifications

• Must be physically present in the office to effectively perform job duties and responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of Florida Statutes and Rules governing licensing and regulation.

Responsibilities

• Process applications in the LEIDS licensing database and issue correspondence concerning deficiencies to applicants.
• Assist with administrative duties related to processing of applications including supplement documentation and refunds.
• Analyze and recommend solutions to administrative problems related to application deficiencies and required qualifications.
• Respond to general inquiries from the public by telephone, email, and in writing; provide licensing process guidance and status updates.
• Update applications in LEIDS following additional review by other sections or units.
• Summarize and prepare application files for review by Board chairs, committees, Boards, or Councils.
• Review massage establishment applications, change of name applications, and update status in LEIDS when retention criteria are met.
• Review Background Screening Report and queues in LEIDS; update applications with criminal history results.
• Review Inspections for Open Applications to confirm licenses issued or actions needed.
• Identify massage establishment applications that may be denied; prepare documentation and notify management.
