Join to apply for the Senior Health & Benefits Consultant role at Mercer.

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Health & Benefits team at Mercer, based in Chicago, Illinois. This is a hybrid role requiring at least three days per week in the office.

As a Senior Health & Benefits (H&B) Consultant, you will manage consulting engagements with over 2,000 life employers regarding their medical, dental, life, and disability benefit plans. You will negotiate with benefits carriers and vendors, acting as the client and Mercer relationship manager.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Managing complex client engagements covering service delivery, strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, renewals, benchmarking, and studies.
  2. Developing benefits design and renewal strategies and creating tools to address complex issues.
  3. Defining the scope of services and roles within the client team.
  4. Communicating industry trends to clients.
  5. Ensuring revenue and profitability for client accounts and projects.
  6. Monitoring project scope, budget, timeliness, and client satisfaction.
  7. Expanding revenues through existing clients and prospecting new ones.
  8. Setting strategic direction and promoting new products/services.
  9. Managing and participating in new business opportunities with sales partners.
Minimum qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree.
  • 5-7 years of experience in designing and implementing health care benefit plans.
Preferred qualities:
  • Strong sales and marketing skills.
  • Mathematical, strategic planning, and communication skills.
  • Experience leading large, complex projects.
