Job summary

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Inc. seeks a Sr Occupational Safety and Health Specialist to manage hazardous waste and ensure regulatory compliance for USU and Environmental Health and Occupational Safety.

The role supports the university with training, audits, and program development in a joint-service environment. Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred), 6–8 years of related experience, and proficiency with Microsoft

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's preferred in public health, biological science or safety.
• At least 18 semester hours of basic/applicant science coursework including chemistry or related fields.
• Minimum of 6-8 years experience in hazardous waste management or safety roles.

Responsibilities

• Executes Hazardous Waste Management Plan and coordinates disposal with certified vendors.
• Manages hazardous waste activities: collection, segregation, packaging, and exposure controls.
• Develops and documents the hazardous waste program; writes SOPs and reports.
• Audits the university hazardous waste program and coordinates exposure monitoring.
• Develops and delivers training on hazardous waste and chemical hygiene to staff.
• Assists with industrial hygiene operations and other duties as assigned.
