Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Chicago seeks a Pharmacy Technician III - Hazardous Compounding to join our hospital-based pharmacy team. You will work under a registered pharmacist performing advanced sterile compounding, IV admixtures, cytotoxic preparations, and high-risk drug handling.

The role requires Illinois licensure as a Pharmacy Technician, CPhT or ExCPT certification, and completion of NM training in compounded sterile preparations within 180 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Illinois Pharmacy Technician License required.
• CPhT or ExCPT certification required for all those licensed after 2008.
• Completion of NM approved training program in compounded sterile preparations within 180 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication orders for inpatients and outpatients.
• Picks up orders and delivers medications to nursing units.
• Schedules intravenous admixture solutions according to the patient's medical record; reports variances to a pharmacist.
• Assists in maintaining adequate inventory levels in the dispensing areas.
