Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a Senior HashiCorp Vault Engineer to lead the vault platform, ensure secure credential storage, rotation, and integration across internal apps.

This hands-on role collaborates with security, infrastructure, Kubernetes, and development teams to deliver a reliable, scalable credential-management service. You will drive configuration, maintenance, upgrades, automation, and architecture improvements while upholding IAM and access-control best practices.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience administering HashiCorp Vault in production.
• Strong information security or platform engineering background.
• Experience with secrets management, credential security, and password rotation.
• Scripting/automation experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar.
• Experience using APIs and integrations between applications and security platforms.
• Experience partnering with software developers and understanding application workflows.
• Understanding of platform architecture, resiliency, and high availability.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Hands-on experience with Git-based source control and code review workflows.
• Strong technical communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, administer, maintain, patch, and upgrade the Vault platform.
• Support secure credential storage, retrieval, and automated password rotation for internal apps.
• Troubleshoot integrations, APIs, authentication, permissions, and infrastructure dependencies.
• Develop and maintain scripts and automation for platform administration.
• Partner with development teams to understand Vault consumption patterns and resolve issues.
• Contribute to architecture, modernization, scalability, resiliency, and security improvements.
• Work with Kubernetes and infrastructure teams for enterprise deployments.
• Apply IAM and privileged-access principles to platform permissions and security.
• Support production incidents and maintain platform availability.
• Share Vault knowledge with team members and create technical documentation.
