Job summary

Infleqtion is seeking a Principal Technical Specialist to lead hands-on stewardship across optical and electronics labs. You will inspect, assemble, integrate and test hardware, while ensuring clear documentation and safe, scalable lab practices.

You will mentor team members in soldering, inspection, and lab organization, and collaborate with engineers to improve procedures and workflows. This role emphasizes ownership and practical craftsmanship.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 8+ years of hands-on technical experience in optical/electronics labs or related fields.
  • Experience performing incoming inspection and interpreting drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, specs, work instructions and test procedures.
  • Demonstrated cable/harness fabrication, inspection, continuity testing, repair, and connector workmanship skills.
  • Proficiency with soldering, electronic assembly, optical inspection, component handling, and ESD controls.
  • Ability to use common lab/test equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, power supplies, cable testers, microscopes, data-acquisition).
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to communicate practical knowledge to engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming inspection of optical/electronic components and subassemblies against drawings and specs.
  • Build, inspect, test, repair, and document cables and harnesses for lab and system use.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, communication, and physical connections; partner with engineers to isolate root causes.
  • Maintain orderly lab spaces, labeling, storage, and day-to-day workflows.
  • Perform soldering, optical inspection, handling, and related lab tasks to safety standards.
  • Teach and coach teammates in soldering, inspection, and lab practices while performing work.
  • Review and improve assembly instructions, inspections, test procedures, and lab docs for clarity and usability.
  • Maintain awareness of lab hardware/tools/equipment and their appropriate handling.
  • Identify risks, gaps, and nonconforming hardware; address or elevate as needed.
  • Support cross-functional prototype/product assembly, integration, testing as needed.
