Job summary

Sagemcom is seeking a Senior hardware R&D Project Lead to drive the end-to-end development of complex electronic products, with a strong focus on residential broadband routers, gateways and connected devices. You will lead Hardware, RF, Mechanical, Software, Validation and Industrialization teams, guiding architecture decisions and coordinating design reviews from concept through to mass production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, electronics, telecommunications or a related engineering field.
• 5+ years in electronic hardware design and product development with hands-on R&D experience.
• Experience leading hardware engineers or multidisciplinary engineering/R&D teams.
• Experience owning a complex hardware product from design through production.
• Strong understanding of hardware architecture, schematics, PCB design, component selection and design reviews.
• Experience working across validation, manufacturing/NPI and production issue resolution.
• Strong technical problem-solving, ownership, communication and cross-functional leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware product-development planning, milestones, priorities, risks and deliverables.
• Coordinate Hardware, RF, Mechanical, Software, Validation and Industrialization teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Drive technical discussions and ensure engineering decisions and trade-offs are aligned with product requirements, cost, schedule and manufacturability.
• Organize design reviews and follow technical actions, risks and issue resolution with the appropriate engineering owners.
• Lead prototype, validation, qualification and product-readiness activities.
• Coordinate hardware/software integration and overall system-level readiness.
• Drive the transition from R&D into NPI, manufacturing ramp and mass production.
• Coordinate Design-to-Cost, BOM optimization, sourcing risks, component availability and second-source activities.
• Manage technical relationships with chipset vendors, component suppliers, manufacturing partners and external design partners.
• Coordinate certification and customer-acceptance activities with the relevant engineering teams.
• Drive root-cause/corrective-action activities for major development, manufacturing and field issues.
• Communicate project status, technical risks, decisions and escalation points to management and stakeholders

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior hardware R&D Project Lead to drive the end-to-end development of complex electronic products, with a strong focus on residential broadband routers, gateways and connected devices. The ideal candidate comes from a hands-on hardware design/R&D background and has progressed into technical leadership, with the ability to guide engineering decisions and take products from architecture and design through validation, industrialization and mass production.

Key Responsibilities

• Own overall hardware product-development planning, milestones, priorities, risks and deliverables.
• Coordinate Hardware, RF, Mechanical, Software, Validation and Industrialization teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Drive technical discussions and ensure engineering decisions and trade-offs are made in line with product requirements, cost, schedule and manufacturability.
• Organize design reviews and follow technical actions, risks and issue resolution with the appropriate engineering owners.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications or a related engineering field.

• Demonstrated experience leading hardware engineers or multidisciplinary engineering/R&D; teams.
• Experience owning a complex hardware product from design/development through production.
• Strong understanding of hardware architecture, schematics, PCB design, component selection and design reviews.
• Experience working across validation, manufacturing/NPI and production issue resolution.
• Strong technical problem-solving, ownership, communication and cross-functional leadership skill

Preferred Experience

• Routers, residential gateways, CPE, Wi-Fi access points, broadband/telecom equipment or other high-volume connected electronic products.
• RF/wireless design, antenna integration and technologies such as Wi-Fi, 4G/5G, Ethernet, GPON/EPON or DOCSIS.
