Job summary

Alcatraz is seeking a Staff or Principal Hardware Product Manager to own the strategy and execution for its hardware portfolio, including compact multi-modal devices and rugged outdoor/government modules, plus mobile credential experiences. This senior IC role offers high autonomy and requires crafting specifications for Hardware Eng, Firmware, ML, and Software teams.

You will define multi-year roadmaps, write PRDs, and drive programs through EVT/DVT/PVT to mass production, reporting to product

Qualifications

• 8+ years of product management experience.
• 4+ years owning physical hardware products through full lifecycle.
• Experience shipping hardware through EVT/DVT/PVT to mass production and launch.
• Experience with embedded systems and sensing hardware.
• Proven cross-functional execution across Hardware, Firmware, ML, and Software teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of executive roadmap reviews.

Responsibilities

• Own product strategy and multi-year roadmap for Alcatraz's hardware portfolio.
• Write and maintain detailed PRDs with acceptance criteria for cross-functional teams.
• Partner with Hardware Eng, Industrial Design, ML, and Platform to drive programs through EVT to mass production.
• Define roadmap and requirements for mobile credentials and interoperability (NFC, BLE, PKI-based issuance).
• Own requirements behind regulated and enterprise-grade use cases (PIV, FIPS 140-3).
• Translate customer discovery and market sizing into MRDs for new hardware programs.
• Collaborate on commercial model decisions — pricing, packaging, tiering for hardware and software.
• Lead cross-functional forums and provide clear, decision-ready narratives for leadership.
• Lead weekly program and hardware syncs and act as connective tissue across teams.
