Job summary

Draper in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Principal Hardware Instrumentation Engineer to design, test, and oversee manufacturing of electronics systems for state-of-the-art sensors and actuators. You’ll lead hardware architectures and guide electronics development with cross-disciplinary teams.

Requires a strong background in electrical engineering, 10+ years of experience, and the ability to obtain a US government security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Designs new products and develops technical specifications for their production.
  • Analyzes hardware configuration and tests hardware conformance to specifications.
  • Independently drives solutions to complex problems — develops requirements and adapts to changing customer needs.
  • SME able to develop advanced architectures and designs for complex electronics.
  • Supports business development activities including leading proposals with sponsors.
  • Identifies program/system-level technical risks and develops mitigation strategies.
  • Communicates status to project leadership and customers across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Develops, documents, and teaches best practices to teammates; demonstrates organization and time management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
