Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Hardware Engineer II (Mechanical) to lead the mechanical design and integration of delivery robots within Amazon’s last-mile delivery ecosystem. The role focuses on in-van docking, charging, storage, deployment and retrieval, alongside station-side cart docking and handoff workflows.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of mechanical engineering experience or equivalent.
• Experience with prototyping and implementation.
• Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys FE analysis tools.
• Experience designing complex mechanical products and equipment at volume.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design and integration of robot systems in delivery vans (docking, retention, deployment, transport).
• Design in-van charging solutions including interfaces, alignment, thermal considerations and serviceability.
• Lead ingress/egress mechanisms, ramps, guides or fixtures for safe deployment and retrieval.
• Define and implement station-side infrastructure like cart docking and handoff interfaces.
• Translate operational/autonomy requirements into mechanical requirements, tolerances, and constraints.
• Collaborate with electrical, firmware, robotics and vehicle engineering teams for end-to-end integration.
• Advance designs through concept, prototyping, validation and production, including DFMEA and environmental testing.
• Ensure compliance with safety, ergonomics and regulatory requirements.
