Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking experienced hardware engineers to help build next generation networking platforms for AWS data centers. You will play a key role in the design and development of Ethernet switching platforms, focusing on terabit switch fabrics, 10/40/100 Gb interfaces, embedded CPU subsystems, and network processors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in high-speed digital design, modular chassis products, and experience working with Asian ODM/JDM partners.

Qualifications

• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
• BSEE with 10+ years experience in hardware board and systems development (must have taken products from concept to mass production) and recent 5+ years experience with Ethernet switching fabrics, Ethernet PHY and SerDes interfaces, embedded CPU subsystems, DDR2/DDR3/DDR4 memory design, network processors, I2C, USB.
• Experience with high-speed PCB design and CPLD/FPGA design using VHDL or Verilog.
• Experience troubleshooting with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and specialized test equipment such as PCI analyzers and in-circuit-emulators.
• Experience interfacing with cross functional teams such as mechanical engineers, HW engineers, SI engineers, diagnostic engineers, and manufacturing engineers as well as with outside vendors and developers.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware design efforts for next-gen Ethernet switching platforms, including architectural definition and component selection.
• Define and verify design plans, perform timing, thermal analyses, and EMC considerations.
• Collaborate with PCB designers, testers, and manufacturing partners to transition designs to mass production.
• Apply simulation, timing analysis, and network processor experience to high-speed digital design.
• Support designing modular chassis-based products with emphasis on reliability and maintainability.
