Job summary

Trident Systems in Sterling, VA seeks a Senior GSE Software Engineer to lead design, development, and evolution of software platforms for automated electronic test and support systems. You will define and own the core GSE software platform, enabling reliable, scalable test operations across programs.

The ideal candidate has deep Python expertise, async systems programming, and hardware communication experience, with a focus on robust, maintainable software architecture used across production

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related technical discipline.
• 6+ years with bachelor's or 4+ with graduate degree.
• Extensive Python software development experience.
• Expert in asyncio and asynchronous programming.
• Experience with hardware devices and instruments.
• Strong software architecture and OO design for complex systems.
• Proven ability to debug and optimize software interacting with hardware.
• Excellent cross-disciplinary communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define overarching GSE software platform architecture and standards.
• Design scalable asynchronous architectures for instrument control.
• Lead development of reusable Python frameworks for GSE and test systems.
• Create abstractions/interfaces for instruments and test procedures.
• Evaluate and select tools and libraries for the GSE stack.
• Develop reusable instrument and communication abstractions.
• Architect execution frameworks for sequencing, scheduling, and monitoring.
• Integrate GSE software with enterprise tools and data systems.
• Provide expert support to production test operations.
• Mentor engineers in asynchronous programming and software architecture.
