Job summary

Trident Systems is seeking a Senior GSE Software Engineer to lead the software platform that controls automated test and support equipment. You will own the architecture, drive reusable Python frameworks, and ensure robust, scalable solutions across programs and product lines.

You will collaborate with test systems, integration, and engineering teams to align platform direction with organizational needs, delivering reliable production test operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or related technical field.
• 6+ years with a bachelor’s or 4+ years with a graduate degree.
• Extensive Python software development experience.
• Expert-level asyncio and concurrent programming.
• Significant experience with hardware devices and embedded systems.
• Strong software architecture and OO design background.
• Proven ability to debug and optimize complex software interacting with hardware.
• Excellent cross-disciplinary communication skills and leadership experience.
• Experience leading software platform/framework decisions.

Responsibilities

• Define overarching GSE software platform architecture and design principles.
• Develop scalable asynchronous architectures for instrument control.
• Lead development of reusable Python frameworks for GSE and test systems.
• Establish clear abstractions for instruments, buses, and test procedures.
• Evaluate tools and technologies with reasoned tradeoffs.
• Develop reusable instruments and communication abstractions for diverse projects.
• Architect execution frameworks for sequencing, scheduling, concurrency, and monitoring.
• Design measurement acquisition, data processing, and results management software.
• Implement robust configuration, deployment, and monitoring for lab and production.
