Job summary

Blue Shield of California is seeking a Senior Project Manager for Group Medicare to lead cross-functional initiatives, drive operational excellence, and coordinate with internal teams and employer groups to improve efficiency and member experience.

You will oversee program management from initiation to execution, manage readiness cycles, ensure CMS compliance, and build integrated plans while mentoring teams in a hybrid in-office environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• 5 years of experience in program or project management, operations, or healthcare administration.
• Experience with PM methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Experience in healthcare, managed care, health plan operations, or Medicare-related operations.
• CMS regulations, compliance requirements, and operational processes knowledge.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams toward shared outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve processes, service delivery, and objectives.
• Oversee planning, development, and implementation of operational workflows and processes.
• Manage programs from initiation through execution with readiness and adoption.
• Coordinate interdepartmental activities to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
• Build and guide project teams, assign responsibilities, monitor progress.
• Develop the integrated program plan, resource plan, and contingency plan.
• Evaluate trade-offs between program size, cost, urgency, risk, and value.
• Define success metrics with sponsors and monitor risks and expenditures.
• Represent the program in governance forums and report milestones.
• Manage retiree group Medicare program operations, readiness cycles, and updates.
