Job summary

Old Colony YMCA is seeking an Out of School Time staff member in Middleboro, MA to support a split shift schedule and lead daily activities for school-age children. You will help plan and implement curriculum while following EEC regulations and YMCA policies, and act as a positive role model for youth.

The role requires effective communication with families, supervision of participants across locations, and collaboration with site coordinators and staff meetings.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years.
• Evening and after-school hours required (split shift).
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
• Experience with school-aged children and curriculum planning is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and manage active groups.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise daily after-school activities and curriculum.
• Ensure compliance with EEC regulations and YMCA policies.
• Communicate with parents, staff, and potential clients.
• Plan and implement program activities tailored to children’s needs.
• Maintain attendance and incident/accident reports as required.

Job Description

• Out of school time staff available to work a split shift; Consistent schedule required


• Understand and ensure EEC regulations as well as Old Colony Y policies (Child and Youth Care policy, Child Guidance Policy, Health Care Policy) are maintained at all times.


• Assist with planning, developing, and implementing the program curriculum in accordance with EEC regulations and Old Colony YMCA’S policies.


• Help gear the school age lesson plans to the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, disabilities, special talents, cultural diversity, and individual style and pace of learning.


• Provide leadership of daily activities, including but not limited to; Y Chat, Asset Curriculum, BOKS, Fun/Food Curriculum.


• Understands and maintains QRIS standards


• Act in a public relations capacity when communicating with parents, school personnel and potential clients.


• Supervision of the program’s children in all program locations, trips, etc.


• Assist in completing necessary documentation, including accident reports, incident reports and attendance records.


• Family Strengthening- Assist in the timely issuance of a monthly newsletter/calendar of events for families


• Act as a positive role model.


• Maintain proper behavior of children at all times with strict adherence to both the YMCA Child Guidance Policy, and the Child Care Policy.


• Ensures Fun/Food Curriculum, menu planning and guidelines meet HEPA standards


• Assist in maintaining attendance records and all necessary reports


• Meet with School Age Site Coordinator as directed.


• Provides leadership role in both weekly site staff meetings and monthly asset/school age curriculum meetings.


• Establish and maintain effective training programs, conferences, courses and other aspects of professional growth.


• Establish and maintain working relationship with school or other site-specific personnel.

Requirements

• Monday-Friday 7:00 AM-9:00 AM; 3:00 PM-6:00 PM


• Minimum of 18 years of age.


• Associates. or B.A. with 9 months experience with school age children, or High School diploma or equivalent and one year working with school age.


• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.


• Evidence of physical examination within last 12 months.


• Immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.


• Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work and thrive as part of a cohesive team.


• Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.


• Will sometimes work early morning, late nights and weekends.


• Strong oral communication skills required for occasional public speaking responsibilities.


• Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.


• Ability to thoroughly understand Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility; p roven ability to identify and meet the needs of the health seeker
