Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a Level II Group Exercise Instructor to lead YMCA group exercise classes, curate appropriate music, set up and take down equipment, and educate class members on THE COACH APPROACH and fitness topics. Qualifications

• High school or GED degree required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• 1+ years of experience teaching group exercise classes.
• Land instructors: national group exercise certification (ACE/ACSM/AFAA/NETA).
• Water instructors: national water group exercise certification via AEA.
• Maintain certifications via Y-Link and complete CE credits.
• Must have CPR/AED certification and renew every two years.
• Specialty certifications (e.g., Pilates, Cycling, AFPL) before teaching formats.
• Must pass group exercise audition.
• Knowledge of fitness topics and THE COACH APPROACH®.
• Obtain THE COACH APPROACH Orientation within 30 days.
• Strong customer-service skills and hospitality.
• Pass criminal background and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily program tasks related to the position.
• Stay updated on group fitness/wellness issues.
• Promote and ensure smooth running of classes with high service to participants.
• Maintain CPR/AED certifications and required trainings.
• Log class attendance in GroupEx PRO by 11:59 p.m. on teaching day.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Ensure music is suitable for a family setting.
• Assist in YMCA and community wellness activities.
• Adhere to risk and safety guidelines and procedures.
• Log in to GroupEx PRO and arrange substitutes as needed.
