HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION (HHSC) in Vernon, TX invites applications for the Senior Groundskeeper (Groundskeeper III) role at Vernon State Hospital. The job entails maintaining hospital grounds, flower beds, and outdoor spaces, operating mowers, tractors, and other tools, while leading a team of grounds staff and coordinating routine work schedules.

Responsibilities include project leadership for beautification, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Nine (9) months of experience as operating power equipment (e.g., mowers, electric clippers, tractors, chain saws, sod cutter, pruning shears) required.
• Nine (9) months of experience as a laborer, gardener, groundskeeper or similar role.

Responsibilities

• Performs groundskeeping duties at the hospital including mowing, trimming, fertilizing, removing and planting trees and shrubs.
• Ensures safe use of gas and power-operated tools; trains others to use equipment.
