Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission in Lubbock, TX, is hiring a Groundskeeper II to maintain and improve the grounds at the state facility. You will operate mowers, trimming tools, and sprinklers while coordinating with maintenance staff to ensure safe, attractive outdoor spaces.

The role requires ability to lift up to 100 lbs, work day shifts, and occasional after-hours or weekend work. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, with experience in groundskeeping and operating

Qualifications

• Experience in groundskeeping and operating power equipment.
• Ability to lift 50–100 lbs and perform manual labor.
• Possession or ability to obtain pesticide/herbicide licenses.
• Willingness to work weekends/holidays and on-call as required.
• Work with maintenance staff and as part of a team.
• Maintain tools and inventory and perform minor repairs.
• Be compliant with safety and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Mow, weed, plant, fertilize grounds; operate sprinkler systems.
• Trim trees and shrubs; remove debris and litter.
• Safely operate power- and gas-operated equipment.
• Maintain tools, supplies, and equipment; perform minor repairs.
• Trap and remove nuisance animals; assist with cemetery grounds if applicable.
• Follow daily/weekly schedules; work with other groundskeepers.
